James Martin says that the 21st century is the "make or break century".  A transition, like one we've never seen before, will occur.  If the transition goes well, humanity will have a magnificent future.  If it goes badly, we may be thrown into a new dark age or worse!!

According to Computerworld James Martin is the fourth among the top 25 individuals who have most influenced the world of computer science.  The Sunday Times called him "Britain's leading futurist."

Martin has honorary doctorates from all six continents and has written 104 textbooks, many of which have been seminal in their field. He also wrote The Meaning of the 21st Century, which was made into a major film, and is a Pulitzer nominee for his book The Wired Society: A challenge for tomorrow. James Martin is renowned for his electrifying lectures about the future and several years ago became the largest individual benefactor to Oxford University by donating over 100 million dollars and founding the Oxford Martin School, which has 30 institutes researching the problems, dangers and opportunities of the future.

This school’s focus is how to make the world a better place.  Dealing with nanotechnology, and computers the produce a million trillion operations per second.  Global warming will become more socially aware then become political.  If we continue to build massive power structures like the ones China is currently constructing. Farms will begin to close in Africa and other places around the world due to lack of water.  Currently, China is looking all over the world for land to farm. If we don’t get ahead of this problem we will face a giga-famine the worst the world has ever seen. If we do all the right things at the right times we can stop it but it will take a lot of intelligent people working together.

The people in government don’t have to knowledge of this sort it will be IBM, Google and others that will take the lead.  Intelligent young people from all over the world .  Intelligent young people with new insights new ideas will produce the answers we need. But we have to move on it we cannot waste any time.




The 21st Century School is aiming to have an impact beyond academia, the school also develops intellectual programs and events to engage policymakers, businesses and the public.
